Moors Academy lost out by four goals to three away at Bloxwich Town, exiting the President's Cup at the first round stage.
Skipper Ryan Andrews scored the opener, giving the Moors Academy an early lead with a 30-yard strike, before Bloxwich scored a leveller just three minutes later.
Jerome Clarke then restored the Academy's lead, to add to a frenzied opening quarter of an hour. Clarke scored after being played through on goal by Andrews.
After a few good chances from the Moors Academy, Bloxwich managed to score an equaliser against the run of play to send the teams into half-time level.
Bloxwich took the ascendancy in the early stages of the second-half and they were duly rewarded, scoring two goals back-to-back, with the young Moors side struggling to cope with Town's physicality and long-ball tactics.
Moors Academy did pull one back, forward Kyle Mullally scoring late on to make the final exchanges somewhat tense for the hosts. But Bloxwich were able to hold on and book their place in the second round of the President's Cup at the Academy's expense.
Moors Academy's next fixture sees them in even more cup competition as they face Midlands Football League Division Three side Inkberrow in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Cup at Tally Ho (16/09, 3pm kick-off).
Starting XI: Forrest; Hansard, Sephton, Chisholm (Ward), Hirst; Clarke (Panton), Bennett, Andrews (c), Attwood (Bour); Coyle; Mullally.
